It's okay, cuz I'm going to Paris!

So what if things are looking a little bit down...I'm going to Paris tomorrow! Woke up early this morning after an unsatisfying 6 hours of sleep (I know, I'm spoiled here). I finished the last of my peanut butter (that stuff went fast), and headed out on a cloudy, cold Thursday morning. I had many goals in mind before meeting Melissa and Katie: buy the play for teatro and cash some of my traveler's checks. So I stopped at the polytecnic bookstore in los Remedios, didn't have it. Then I went to Citibank because I figured that since it was an American bank they could cash my traveler's checks. After waiting awhile the teller told me to try the bank Caixa which was close by. So I crossed the street and went to the bank La CaixaNova. Waited in line awhile again to be told that it was solely a business bank. OK. So I went to the BBVA bank next store, waited awhile again, and they told me to try another bank, I can't remember the name. Dejected, I walked down through los Remedios wondering if I should stop at every bank on the street (which is a zillion) or just hang onto the traveler's checks to use by themselves in Paris. Then I passed the Libreria Beta in Remedios and asked them if they had the play for teatro and they didn't have it either. Where was this godforsaken play? By this point I could have been upset, but I wasn't because I was just too excited about Paris tomorrow. Then, walking a bit more towards the river I saw on my left a bank called, simply, La Caixa located right next store to Citibank. I'm such an airhead sometimes. So I went in there, there was no line, and got my traveler's checks cashed! Yay, I have money for Paris! Then I walked to the center to meet up with Melissa and Katie to plan Amsterdam. When I got there I found that my package STILL hadn't arrived. Ugh. And then Melissa told me that she wasn't going to go to Amsterdam anymore. However, Katie's still coming, so we'll be a crazy little duo in Amsterdam, aw yeah. After lots of frustrating cheap flight searching we finally found a roundtrip fair from Madrid to Amsterdam, non-stop (!!), for 180 euros. Awesome! We're going Saturday, April 8 at night after taking the 6 hour bus to Madrid (oy), then flying back to Madrid the 12th in morning, then bussing it back home. The bus is then 30 euro roundtrip. Not a bad deal at all. I'm so excited about it! I'm going to freaking Amsterdam! So the only big trip left to book is a trip to Dublin the second weekend of May. Woohoo! Perfect, I've allowed myself 3 large trips: Paris, Amsterdam, and Dublin, then 2 mini trips to Portugal (we're going to Lagos at the end of April). Good times! Then I ate my bocadillos and ran over to Correos (the post office here) to send some postcards and recharge my cell (damn expensive Vodafone). Then I went to Lope which was pretty boring, the lecture was pretty useless. She talked about the process of publication in the 1500's. Woohoo. During the break I returned to the center, and my package still hadn't arrived. I bought a manzana from McDonald's and did some internetting. Then went to class, teatro, which was crazy...it wasn't too interesting, he basically talked aout the playwright of the play we were to read, but for some reason I was in the zone. I payed so much attention and took a copious amount of notes. When class ended, I was in a daze--how did I get so into it? I was exhausted afterwards, how funny! Then I had a break before my 6:00, so did Alyssa, so we swung by the school bar and grabbed a bocadillo (they're super cheap there, 1.35euro!), and sat outside and chatted. Then class at 6, iconografia, which was pretty bad. He was talking about monuments in Sevilla and the stories behind them and I just couldn't follow. He cracked little jokes here and there that everyone laughed at but me and the other Americans. That's frustrating. Class couldn't move any slower. There's nothing more frustrating/boring than being completely at a loss in a room full of people who understand what's going on. Ah well. Then I walked home and was in a rush to get ready for Paris. I had a plan to get everything done before dinner so I could pass out right afterwards. So I got home, rushed into the shower, rushed out, started this blog, did a bit of packing, and then ate a delicious dinner: stewed garbanzos and spinach (typical of Spain and one of my favorite dishes!), lightly battered chicken breast (so good, so moist!), and then some leftover paella from lunch. Theeeeeeen flan cups for desserts! It had been too long, I missed them so. During dinner I popped a melatonin so as to hasten my tiredness and allow me to get at least 6 hours tonight (I have to wake up at 5:15am tomorrow, oy). So, now I shall go to sleep. Tomorrow at this time I will be in PARIS! Holy crap, I never imagined that I would go to Paris at this point in my life. How exciting! I'M GOING TO PARIS!
