Plenty o nuttin

Well, it's Saturday and I really didn't do much of anything. I woke up at around 11am after a pretty rough night...I woke up many times in the middle of the night since my throat was killing me. I made some toast while Maruja was cooking lunch and she told me to put on a sweatshirt since I was still sick. She's a cutie sometimes. So I did. Then I ate toast and watched an episdode of "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" in Spanish which was hilarious (because it was translated funny, not cuz of the show itself). The opening theme song translation is so funny, some of the worst rapping I've ever heard--completely off-beat, no joke! Haha, oh man. Then I took a shower. Then I posted some more webshots while Maria del Mar checker her email on Stacey's computer. It was EXTREMELY windy outside, it was insane to watch from my window. Then one of Maruja's sons showed up to fix some plumming or something. He chatted with us in the room, a really nice guy! He asked about my internet connection, I showed him my configuration utility and he said that I could sometimes pick up his Wi-Fi since he lives in a building next to this one that is very visible through my window. That explains why I get so many strong signals to choose from in my room: my window overlooks 3 apartment buildings. Nice. My mace was sitting on the table and he warned me that it's illegal in Spain since it's basically a weapon. He was very sweet about it, just giving me a healthy warning. That's good to know. It made me feel like some violent American, though, haha. That just proves the violent society in which we live. Crazy U.S. and its lax laws. We had lunch which was SO good. Oh man, it felt good to get a real Maruja meal for once. It was amazing paella with shellfish of all sorts. Delicious! We had a simple salad on the side, and it had fresh tomatoes in it which was a new thing! Maruja had explained to us that as it gets warmer tomatoes get really good here...oh man, that's way exciting! The tomatoes we had were so good, so just imagine what they're like in the summer. Maruja told me about the tomato dishes she makes. I can't wait. For dessert we had OJ again. The wind was really picking up outside and it violently blew open the secured porch doors at the end of lunch. Scary! Then Stacey and I came back to the room. She did some hw and I, without any homework to do, put up some more webshots. It began to rain like crazy outside while the wind blew violently...it was like a hurricane! We thought about going to Starbucks to get stuff done, but it was just too terrible outside. By 5:30 the wind had died down, the rain had stopped, and we were developing a bad case of cabin fever. So we walked to Starbucks where Stacey di hw and I read some Harry Potter. After about an hour and a half Stacey and I got distracted and ended up having a long conversation about who knows what. We can't help that we get along so well! Then, in the seats next to us was the cutest little one-year-old and her dad. She kept peaking her head over the chair and giggling. It was adorable. We both played peek-a-boo (Spanish style) with her for a good 20 min. Cutest little baby girl ever! And her dad was so sweet. Spanish parents, for what I've observed, are really awesome and caring. It's great to see. The dad and baby left and we ended up striking up a conversation with some American girls sitting near us (not difficult, the Starbucks is usually filled with mostly Americans). One goes to Tufts and the other to Sweet Briar College. They were nice girls. We then browsed VIPS a bit, Stacey decided to buy this Lindt chocolate bar that looked intriguing: white chocolate and vanilla. Hmmm. Then we walked home for dinner. Dinner was pretty good, some sort of sauteed legume (tasted like lentils?) in some awesome spices and a great sauce and another plain omelette on the side. For dessert we had oranges, yay vitamin C. Although I was feeling a bit better, my throat was still raw and I had a cough. After dinner I watched 2 episodes of "The Simpsons" (it's good to be away from the computer, haha). Stacey and I sampled the vanilla bar which was AMAZING. It literally tastes like vanilla frosting, but in solid form. Mmm. Then I finally worked up the motivation to blog. These things take time, man. Then Stacey and I watched some "Family Guy" (I have season 4 here) in the living room. Yeah, after watching "The Simpsons" I was craving some absurd humor, but, ya know, in English. So we watched that and then called it a night. I didn't do too much, but that's a good thing since I must get well!
