It´s SPRING!
Sí, ¡es la primavera! It was a gorgeous day, sunny and in the lower 70´s...perrrrrfect! Woke up around 9:30, got ready, and headed out. I had time to kill before class so I stopped by the center...my package still hadn´t come! Had film 12-2 where the prof. discussed the film we had watched the day before. Really interesting, I learned that it was Griffith´s (the filmmaker) attempt to criticisize society´s intolerance as a nation is born, mostly in reaction to WWI and the KKK propaganda film from ´14 Birth of a Nation (Intolerance was made in ´16). Cool stuff. We got out early, so I returned to the center to check up on the package again. Right as I arrived Pepe was getting on the phone with UPS (again) to figure it all out. I stuck around until 2:10 while Pepe spoke with UPS, he told me that they said that it would come that afternoon/evening. Excellent. Then I walked home for lunch, was late, but oh well. Lunch was so good, marinated chicken (the sauce was a garlic rosemary kind of deal) and seasoned potatoes. For dessert we got a batido de fresa (strawberry milkshake: milk, sugar, and fresh, sweet strawberries)! Yay! After lunch Stacey and I walked back to the center. The weather was absolutely gorgeous! The package still hadn´t come and Pepe said that if it didn´t arrive by closing he would call them again. Ugh. OK. Hung out online, checked up on Amsterdam prices and stuff, then walked to Librería Beta with Stacey so she could buy some books, bought a McDonald´s manzana, picked up some fichas de filología (little sheets we fill out for our lit. teachers so they can record grades), then went to historia del arte. I paid attention, but it was still boring. You can only hear so much about the Parthenon, honestly. After class I walked home taking the short cut and timing it, I arrived after a half an hour realizing that the short cut was just as long as the usual way home. Whatev. When I got home I had a pounding headache which I believe was due to stress. All day I had been stressed about UPS, money, and travel. It´s cutting it close with Amsterdam and I need to plan that ASAP because hostels are booking up and flight rates are rising. I took a hot shower which helped very little, then chilled out on the couch watching terrible tv (it sucks in the evenings) praying for the headache to go away. Then dinner was served: croquetas filled with shrimp and a weird tomato-ish (?) soup with little pieces of bread in it. As weird as it was, it was kind of good. Then oranges for dessert. After dinner I retreated to our room, took care of some emails and then passed out at 12:45. I just needed to sleep it all off. I slept like a rock. I needed that. Oy vey, at least the weather was perfect!
