Why doesn't anything go my way?

Despite the 73 degree weather, nothing seemed to work in my favor. Uuuugggghhhhh. Sometimes it feels like nothing goes my way out here. It's like Spain don't like me or somethin. Boo. So I woke up at 11:15 after getting 11 hours of sleep (holy crap!). Got ready and headed over to the center. My package still hadn't arrived! It was supposed to be there yesterday afternoon. WTF??!! I checked the tracking online and it had all of this intricate messed up info about it being sent here and back to customs multiple times due to money issues or something. What in the hell is going on, UPS? Fuck UPS, they suck. That is all. I started blogging for yesterday then headed over to the U. with Stacey for Lope. It was a pretty good class, actually pretty interesting and easy to follow. After class she asked if any extranjeros (foreign students) wanted to move the final back to earlier. The final is the 12th, which is early enough for me...as long as my art history and teatro finals get moved back, my latest final should be between the 12th and 15th. But if I choose to take Lope earlier it would be June 2. After class I headed to the nearest internet cafe to scan my Sevilla ID because our insurance company won't let my parents send me all of my prescriptions unless I give proof of being a student here. I had Pepe fax it but the graphic didn't come out, I'd have to set it differently. My dad gave me directions about how to do this, but a) I have no idea how to explain it in Spanish and b) faxing internationally is expensive and a hassle, and we're really only allowed to fax if it's something with the university, but Pepe did me a favor. I wouldn't want to ask again. Scanning seems easier, anyways. So I went to the internet cafe and the internet was down. So I went to the other internet cafe down the street. They had a scanner, yay! But they have to scan it for you and then they send it to one of the computers there. So, the woman there is scanning it and it's taking FOREVER. After about 15 mins of waiting it turned out that the scanner wasn't working. UGGGGHHHH. Another responsibility to think about again. So, the UPS and the insurance stuff is on my mind and won't stop giving me headaches. Then we had teatro. He finally gave us directions about reading: we have to buy the first play and bring it to class tomorrow and we'll read it together in class. Sweet, that's easy enough. Well, now I had to buy the book. Boooo spending money, I can't afford to do anything. After class I walked down Puerto Jerez where there are a bunch of banks to try to cash my traveler's checks for Paris. All of the banks were closed. They close at 2pm, can you believe that?? Then I went to Libreria Beta to buy the play for teatro and they didn't have it. THEN I went to the center to see if the package had arrived or get some info about what was up. Pepe told me that he spoke with UPS aaaaagain and they had not been informed that my dad had paid customs the fee to get the package. So my dad paid, but UPS did not inform customs in Spain that he had paid, so they have still been holding the fucking package because of the shitty communication that exists in that crappy company. Fuck UPS. Pepe told me that UPS was calling my dad and it should all get worked out. AHHHHH! Then I went to art history. Ran into Melissa and we talked about how we need to plan Amsterdam, like, now. So we made plans to meet the next morning at the center and get that taken care of. I found out that my mom put some money in my account, enough to pay for half of Amsterdam, but I'm not sure if that's after paying overdrafts or what. So there's another thing to worry about before tomorrow. So basically tomorrow's gonna be a killer: get money figured out, go to bookstore in Remedios, go to bank all before 11am. Oof. Yeah, God hated mem today. At least it was the warmest day we had since I had been here. That was pretty great. Came home and hung out with Maria del Mar and then Stacey until dinner. We had a really good talk. She told me to ignore Maruja's bitching, haha. She also said that Maruja gives everyone a hard time about rules and money and that she's super stingy. Like, the other day there was a note in the bathroom saying that the toilet paper was only for usage in the bathroom. We had been short on tp all week because I was sick and blowing my nose all the time. What does she expect me to do when I'm sick, let it run? Wipe it on my sleeve? Maria del Mar said that many of her rules are "tonterias" (stupidities) and not to worry about them...she's been living with Maruja for 4 years. She said that I'm paying her, she's not doing me a favor, I'm doing her a favor by supporting her, so she should let me feel comfortable. If she makes absurd requests, like not letting me have a lot of laundry when it's hot out and I'm sweating all day, counter her. If my clothes are dirty, she should clean them. If I want to stay up late on the computer, I can (she got on my ass last week because I was up until 3am online and told me that I shouldn't even be awake that late...huh??). Maria del Mar said that she's older and used to living by her own rules so many times just smile and nod and say "vale" (ok). It felt so good to rant about Maruja with her, and she made me feel so much better. She said that Maruja even gives her family shit for things (like when her kids come over she won't buy snacks they like cuz it costs money). Crazy. Well, I felt so much better because Maruja's little corrections were really starting to tick me off. Then we had dinner which was awesome: empanadillas (mini empanada pastries) filled with tuna, tomato, and hard boiled egg. Then a plain omelette, and endive salad with homemade thin blue cheese dressing, raisins, and crushed walnuts. So good! For dessert we had a strawberry batido again, woohoo! At least the day ended semi-well. Then we came back into the room and I did online stuff, called the mother, then started packing for Paris. Stacey went out with all of the girls, which was unbelievably tempting for me, but I resisted and stayed in since I'm getting over this cold and don't want to risk it for Paris. Besides, I anticipate very little sleep happening in Paris. Hehe. So anyhoo, pray for me that all of this UPS, money, Amsterdam, traveler's checks, book stuff works out for me tomorrow. Oh man.
