The Ides of March love me

Beware the Ides of March my ass, Shakespeare, I had a great day! Happy March 15, y'all, hope everyone survived. Woke up around 10:45 with that sore throat still festering. But, first thing's first: I bought my UM football season tickets!!! Sooooo exciting! Sad it's my last season, but soooo excited about FOOTBALL!!! And let me tell you, it was quite a treat checking off the box for the highest amount of credits...pray for some awesome seats! I then took my time getting ready, left around noon for the center. Another sunny beautiful day! I decided to walk along calle Asuncion so I could stop buy a fruit stand and buy an orange. I found this small cute grocery store and got the biggest orange ever for 46 cents. Got to the center around 12:30 to be greeted by...none other than...MY PACKAGE! UPS DELIVERED MY PACKAGE!!!! Ohhhh what luck! This was going to be a great day for sure. I opened the package and everything was in it: money, medicines, etc. Yes! My dad then called me coincidentally to ensure that it got there after finding out that it got delivered. We talked then for a good while about UPS and how he was going to ask for a refund and file some major complaints, and also about planning their trip out here in June. It was very good to talk to him! It's just been a familial week, loooove it. Then I hurried off to Lope class with Stacey since I had talked on the phone longer than anticipated. Class went pretty well, I understood a good deal of it; the prof. talked about Lope and his style as per usual. Alyse had talked to a Spanish and learned that the prof. would not go over readings in lecture, we were just expected to complete the required readings on our own terms before the final. Yeesh. I needed to get my act together and buy the readings and get crackin', enough of this Lisa slackerness. During the break before Teatro Stacey and I sat outside the University eating our bocadillos and getting some sun. Since my lunches are usually not very satisfying so I packed myself some excellent sugar-free salt-free cracker biscuit things and an apple to help fill me up. I was actually pretty full after just one bocadillo (and I only ate one of the pieces of bread feeding the rest to the birds) and my huge orange that I had bought earlier (which, by the way, was delicious...mmmm vitamin C). Then we decided to stop by the U. bookstore so Stacey could put her name on the list to order the play for Teatro...but it was closed for siesta. Damn siesta, not a fan most of the time, honestly. So we went back to our bench outside the U. where we ran into Amanda and Maggie and talked for a bit before class. Teatro went really well! The prof. explained many key elements of the play. Although he lectures with the assumption that we all have read the play (yeah, that play better come in soon), I understood everything which will be a huge asset when I finally dive into it--I won't feel as lost as I usually do when I initially begin a piece of Spanish literature. He even had volunteers come up and act out a scene, and he gave them costume pieces and props! It was great, quite entertaining, and the guys who read were great actors! Hehe. After class Stacey and others went to the tutoria (tutoring session) for one of the history classes while I took my sweet time walking towards the center with Amanda. I ran into Courtney, she seemed very flustered. She told me that she was having a "Lisa day" because nothing was going her way today. Haha. As funny as that is, you know it's sad that bad days are now labeled "Lisa days". Ohhhh my life. Then I went to the center, hung around, ate my other bocadillo and a juicebox, researched a Portugal travel book (for my parents), wrote some emails, etc. etc. I then grabbed my package and went to Art History at 6. I got there at around 5 after to a basically deserted classroom besides 2 other Spanish students (one was an older woman). I initially found it strange that the class was so small, but I assumed that perhaps a lot of people were ditching or something. But the professor hadn't shown up and it was nearing 6:15. The woman in the class asked me if we were in fact in the right classroom, I said that we were, and then she asked where everyone was which, of course, I hadn't the slightest idea. We all looked for a sheet hanging with some sort of info but nothing. The woman asked if he had made an announcement in class the previous day, but I didn't think so. It got to be near 6:30 and nobody had shown, so we all just left. Maybe he said something about cancelling class? Maybe he sent an email? Oh how I love the disorganized Spanish University system, haha. So I got to go home from class the earliest ever...6:30! So that was awesome. And it was a really nice, warm evening. As I was walking back a nice man with a child passed by and asked if I needed help in English (he was obviously American). Of course I said no, and besides, the box wasn't heavy, just awkward. Then we struck up a convo talking about where we were from and stuff...he's from Cleveland. Somehow my sore throat came up and he told me that arount this time a lot of people come down with minor dry colds that just settle in the throat and that it's really nothing to worry about and will go away within a week. Thanks, man! I can't remember his name, though. He's here in Sevilla to open up an international cocktail bar next to the bull ring. He told me that it wasn't opening till June so unfortunately I wouldn't be able to check it out. Ah well, I met a friendly Midwestern American. I got home and opened up my package to check out all of its contents. I got so much cute stuff: a stuffed valentines day dog (yeah, a bit late, damn UPS), a plush rose, a wax poodle that's also an air freshener, Mary Kate & Ashley perfume (random, yes), some cute lacey underwear, and some awesome moccasins. I also got a great card and a "Remember when...?" booklet for 1985 which was really interesting and fun to look at. I also got my prescription refills (thank god) and some money (thank god thank god). So I loves my package, so happy I got it, it felt like my bday all over again! Oh what a great day. We then had an awesome dinner at 9:30: grilled green peppers with a fried(?) egg and these little teeny fried fish which Marta told us are illegal and you can only buy them at the marketplace. We also had a bowl of fresh olives to go with, which Maruja never does although it's typical in Spain to serve food with olives to nosh on. Love it! Then for dessert we had that awesome fruit salad again!!! Soooo awesome! Oh I was happy. Since Stacey wasn't feeling well still she wanted tea so we decided to walk to Starbucks and just chill for the evening. She got a chai and I got some chamomile tea for the throat and to relax. It was so nice, and they served it to us in tazas (mugs). A weirdo bum walked in and approached us and asked for a cigarette, which we didn't have, then he walked up to the counter and ordered a coffee. Then the barista charged him and the bum walked away since he couldn't pay. What'd he expect, a free coffee? After that all of Starbucks literally smelled like a toilet. He must have soiled himself many times over. Really gross. The bums here are kind of a problem, I am not a fan. Crazy drunkards. After that we went to Vips where Stacey proceeded to buy a crapton of chocolate...I mean, admittedly it is hard to resist because the candy sold in Europe is really high quality, lots of Lindt and Toblerone and things like that. And it's not expensive like in the states, it's like being in the states and buying a KitKat or something, that's how normal fancy European chocolate is. Walking back Stacey gave me half of this pretty popular chocolate brand, Kinder's, chocolate bar called "Bueno". It really was bueno! And interesting. It had some wafer and then some strange cream on the inside whose taste I can't reall explain. But it was very good nevertheless, in fact, great! I loved it. Then I came back home, and now I am writing this blog. While I wrote it Stacey sat at her comp and played some awesome 80's and 90's music to which we rocked out (she was peaking on her caffeine, haha). And now she is sleeping. And now I think that I shall call it a night on this glorious night. What a great day.

By the way, Jon is starring in The Last Five Years in Chicago and it just got an amazing review from the Tribune. If you're in Chicago at any point between now and April 30 please check it out...and then tell me all about it because I am very sad about missing it. Get tickets/further info at Ticketmaster.com. See it for Spanish Lisa!
