David Beckham is dreamy

Well, I slept in once again on Saturday, this time till 1:30pm...I woke up to my alarm! I seriously could have slept all day, I'm sure. We had lunch, which was the most filling meal that I've had since I've been here: chicken broth with what looked like meatballs but tasted much, much better, and potatoes. Maruja told us that it's a traditional Spanish dish, I forgot the name of it, but it was so gooooood and sooooo filling, and we ate that with another amazing salad with fruit and cheese in it, but this time she added pineapple! Yessss. More oranges for dessert, love it. I think that I beat that cold I thought that I was getting with the large doses of vitamin C I get from all the citrus we eat here. We had made plans to get sushi as a sort of tapas that evening with Katie and Melissa, so Stacey and I spent awhile searching online for sushi places in los Remedios. We found the one that Francisco had told us about, tried to look up a number in the yellow pages, but it wasn't listed! We needed to know the place's hours because restaurants and cafes are either not open until late, or just don't start serving food until late. Ugh, Spanish hours. We decided to give it a go anyways. Around 6:45 we walked to their place to meet up with them and try to find Samurai Sushi. After getting a bit lost we found it, and also learned that it was closed. Their hours weren't listed anywhere, blahhh. But it looks really good, we made plans to return one day during meal hours (a.k.a. after 9pm). We then decided to get real tapas instead, and chose the tapas place next to Cadillac since we wanted to watch the Madrid/Espanyol futol game there at 8. We got to the tapas place, and it was only serving coffee and dessert until mealtime. Ah! That only meant one solution: VIPS! Woohoo! As we walked towards VIPS we passed Caffe Roma and decided to try their kickass bocadillo menu, which turned out to be quite good. Their bread is really soft, tastey, and interesting, and their sandwich combos are fascinating. I got a brie, arugula, and mushroom sandwich on nut bread. Not bad. There were these creepy old men sitting next to us chain smoking and staring at us (this has become routine). One of them started talking to us in English and told us that he was from Philadelphia. Bullshit! It's obvious that he arbitrarily came up with Philadelphia because here they call cream cheese "queso philadelphia" and there are a few sandwiches on the menu that list queso philadelphia as an ingredient. SO that's obviously where he got that from. AND when he spoke to us, he spoke really slowly blatantly trying to shield a Spanish accent. Ugh. And this guy was really dirty looking. I was telling the girls a story about a girl I saw shoplifting at H&M, the creepy man was staring at us, listening to our convo, then leaned over and said "When in doubt, give it out" in response to my story. Ummmm, what does that mean?? Yeah, buddy, you ain't American, nice try. Ugh. Again, I am so sick of Spanish men, they're getting on my last nerve. So disrespectful I can't even believe it. After our little merienda (snack) we walked over to Cadillac for the game. We got there right at 8, and it was already packed, barely any chairs. We snagged a table with two chairs, so half of us sat on the floor. The game was played on this huge projector. It was so funny, we were not only the only Americans there, but also the only females. We ordered beers and wine. It was funny, when I ordered my wine the bartender asked "Con naranja, con limon, o con blanco" meaning she wanted to know with what kind of soda I wanted my wine mixed, the normal way of drinking it there. I said, "Solo" (by itself) and she said, "Solo...??" and I said, "Si," she gave me a strange look and poured me a glass of red wine with ice. I'm a silly American, I guess. The game was so fun to watch! I've never actually sat and watched futbol...it's SO FUN! And damn, these players are good. Real Madrid is so good and was dominating the whole time. David Beckham now plays for Real Madrid, which was a treat to watch. I mean, all of the futbol players are pretty damn attractive, but Beckham is a dreamboat. Hehe, I'm so cheesy, but it's a joy to watch him play, and to simply watch HIM. Yeah, but the game was great, it was a fun atmosphere because half of the bar was rooting for Espanyol while the other for Real Madrid. I just chose Real Madrid because I went to Madrid last weekend, hehe. And like I said, they are so good, I found out that they're ranked second in the country right behind Barcelona. Good times. At 9:20 we had to leave to get dinner at home, which was about halfway through the second half...Real Madrid was winning 3-0. They're so good. I'm a futbol fan fo sho, I need to buy tickets! Dinner was really good, we had an egg omelet with a side of sauteed mushrooms and onions. I enjoyed it. More salad on the side, and an orange for dessert. After dinner we were feeling kind of lazy, and behind in responsibilities since we had spent most of our days sleeping instead of getting things done. So, on a Saturday night, Stacey and I, ::gasp:: stayed in! These Spanish going out hours grow exhausting after awhile, not gonna lie. So Stacey went online and took care of some emails and such, and I watched Puede pasar a ti (It Could Happen to You) with Marta, which was a good time, very relaxing. Remember that movie? With Nicholas Cage, Rosie Perez, and Bridget Fonda? It's from the 90's, I remember seeing it back then. Oh man, it was good to see it again, brought back memories, even if it was in Spanish. At the end of the movie Marta and I found out that it was losely based on a true story thanks to the credits. How sweet ("Que bonito!" as Marta says). After the movie I went online and got caught up with blogs and whatnot, and started planning a trip to Ireland for St. Patrick's Day with Stacey. The flights would be a bit pricey, but housing wouldn't be bad at all. I'm quite excited! I then passed out a little before 2. Not bad. It was a good, lazy day, and I loved it.
