The end of hairy legs

I had class again today...actually TWO classes (whoooooa). On the way we stopped at VIPS for snacks since we knew that we'd get hungry in that 3 hours of class until lunch. I bought two boxes of granola bars so that I stop spending money on pastries in the future, and a bottle of OJ. Got to the center, had lit. again, 11-12:30, which went very well. I love Pilar, she's so dynamic, and holds my attention during an hour and a half lecture. She gave us an overview of the Franco era and Spain's post-civil war history up until 1975. Very interesting! She makes history interesting, I love her passion and anti-fascist attitude and faint little America critiques, hehehe. Then, from 12:30-2 was (finally) the first day of Spanish Art History (I wasn't really planning on taking it, but I thought that I'd check it out to see if I'd like it). I ate one of my granola bars, which, I must say, beats out any American granola bar that I´ve ever had...banana and chocolate, mmmmm. Art History kind of sucked, the professor is very "art history"-ish, he basically epitomizes the art history nerd. He´s boring, talks a lot and not very clearly. Well, now I know for sure that I won´t be taking that class. FINALLY it ended, and Stacey and I walked back to los Remedios psyched for lunch, which was delicious and apparently took a lot of work. Oh, Maruja, how I love thee! It was a soup with rice with a broth made from clams, and then a seafood salad with real shrimp, crab meat, and I think grouper. It was soooooooooooo good! I frickin´ love her cooking. AAAAND we got a flan cup! Yes! After a satisfying lunch I took a nice, warm, relaxing shower. I finally shaved my legs, lol! Hate to give so much info, but it´s a pretty big deal. It´s impossible to shave one´s legs in the shower, and also, it takes a lot of water, and water is really scarce and expensive here since Sevilla is almost in the desert. So I figured out a strategy...I just shave after I shower, and rinse with shower head. Pretty elementary, I don´t know why it took me so long to figure out. Well, it felt good to know what my legs feel like again. After that I chilled in the apartment, did some internet stuff, caught up as best I could with the blog, and whatnot. Stacey had gone running, returned, showered, and was excited because she´s an ice cream freak and hadn´t yet tried the ice cream here and we had made a plan to go to Café Indias and get a sundae. We headed out, got there, she ordered a brownie sundae and I ordered an helado batido (milkshake) made with the ice cream flavor nata, nueces, y caramelo (cream, nut, and caramel). It was pretty good, and served in this huge goblet. Not much milkshake, but a hella lot of whipped cream, hehe. Stacey´s dish was funny, it was a brownie sundae, but the scoop of ice cream was minute! She had been so looking forward to ice cream, and basically got no ice cream, oh man. So, we need to try again another time for some ice cream. Then we ran a few errands, and headed home for dinner. Dinner was kind of disappointing, pretty small and simple, contrary to previous meals. She made frozen, boxed croquetas (still good, though) and the green beans sauteed in olive oil. Don´t get me wrong, the food was great, just not satisfying. Maruja said that she was not hungry, and got home too late to cook anything too special. It´s OK! We love her anyways, she´s human! Since we were not satisfied, we munched on cereal (gotta love the fruit n fiber...it has dried coconut in it!) and got ready to meet up with Lizzy and Rachael at Cadillac to watch the fútbol game. Exciting! We met them at 10:30, and it was kind of dead, but chill, we found out that the game wasn´t on until Saturday. Oh well, we love Cadillac, and it´s so close! The atmosphere is awesome, and the bartender was kind of cute, hehe. We ordered vino tinto (red wine) and chilled...they came in these huuuuge goblets, it´s crazy. Then Julia and Elena met up with us, and then a girl who goes to Northeastern and is on the CIU program met up with us. She´s really cool, and hates everyone in her program, so we decided to take her under our wing; her name´s Lucia. Then, Rachael´s current Sevillano amante met up with us...well, they´re not amantes, but they´ve been on a few dates. He took her to sushi, so that gives him major brownie points in my book! His name is Francisco, he´s a 26-year-old businessman here originally from Barcelona. He´s really cool and really friendly, a definite good catch, way to be, Rachael! He told us about a sushi place and a flamenco bar close by in los Remedios, which makes me very, very happy. I´m there, man. Well, that large goblet of wine got me pretty happy, to say the least, and it was only 1.50€! Gotta love the Cadillac. During our time at the bar the bartender handed out coupons for happy hour and free drinks the following night. I couldn´t find mine, so when I went up to pay I asked him for another one. He gave me one, then asked for my number and name so he could send a text message as a reminder as part of phone list thing. I think that it may have been bullshit about the whole phone list thing, all the more reason to give him my number, hehe. He introduced himself, did the obligatory double cheek Spanish kiss thing, and I was off. His name is Diego, he is quite cute. Who knows if he was really flirting, but who cares. I got a cute bartender named Diego next door to my apartment! What what! We left early, around 1am-ish cuz we were pretty beat. It was so much fun, though! Cadillac is awesome, oh yeah. It was a good night, indeed.
