Lagos night 1: the shitshow begins...

So the stress had ended. Melissa and Courtney ran into one of Melissa's roommates from Sevilla who was staying in another Rising Cock apartment and invited the two of them over for dinner while we were going through the whole ordeal, so Jessica, Katie, and I were on our own. We headed over to the little grocery store next to the Rising Cock and bought a bunch of fresh veggies and pasta to make ourselves a nice dinner. Oh yes, and two bottles of red wine. We needed it. We then headed back to the Rising Cock to use their kitchen. We cut the veggies, sauteed them in some olive oil and spices and cooked up the pasta. Meanwhile we killed a bottle of wine. Dinner was finished in about 15 minutes, and we sat outside on the hostel porch to eat and drink. It was fantastic. Dinner was so good and so filling, I couldn't finish it. And we were pretty merry from the wine. We made tri-color bow-tie pasta with fresh tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and red peppers. So good. It felt good to cook again, it had been ages. It also felt good to eat a true vegetarian meal. We were in heaven; we knew that our stay in Lagos would run smoothly from then on. After our meal we went to wash the dishes. I ended up dropping one and shattering it. Oops. It was okay, though, Mom's cool with that. Then Katie and Jessica took over so I could run and shower. So I ran next store and hopped in the shower. I didn't have time to dry my hair, so I didn't wash it and went out with beach hair. Whatever, I was in Lagos, no big deal. Jessica and Katie were back soon and told me that Mom came up and volunteered to finish our dishes because "I just want to make you happy." Oh, Mom. We all got ready, finished the second bottle of wine, Melissa and Courtney came back, and we did some more pre-gaming. The 4 other girls we were staying with came back and were getting ready, too. They were all sweet girls, definitely from the East Coast, all studying in Sevilla. As we pre-gamed we left our door open and random drunk people kept wandering in and out of our rooms. Mostly guys. Not bad. Two guys wandered into our room: one of which was Jade, a big Australian guy who really looked Polynesian. Katie was straightening her hair and he started acting very, well, flamboyant, and seized her straightening iron and proceeded to do her hair. The other guy who walked in was none other than Toba. Toba is a Sevillano who just happens to be Melissa's neighbor here. He's obsessed with being American and only hangs out with Americans and speaks English (although not very well). We see him everywhere in Sevilla, so it was doubley funny to see him in Lagos. He walked in and asked to do Courtney's makeup. Unfortunately, she declined. Then Toba asked if we would straighten his very curly hair and we said no. Then he asked us to touch his hair, and whenever we did he'd snort at us. It was so weird. Toba's a silly boy. He also kept singing "Who Stole the Cookies from the Cookie Jar". Lagos was already turning into a silly, silly place. Soon we were out the door, good and drunk, and headed back to Joe's Garage because that was supposedly where Mtv would be and everyone would be there. First, we went next store to the Hard Cock Cafe, or the bar inside the Rising Cock to do some drinking. There was a big beer pong game going on! I wanted to play, but the line was too long. I miss beer pong!!!! It was, nevertheless, quite comforting to be in that environment again. Then we walked to Joe's Garage. We hung out outside of the bar for awhile finishing our liquor, and then headed in. My time at Joe's is kind of a blur, but I do know that Jessica and I ended up staying out the longest dancing with this guy Joe who also studies in Sevilla. You'll just have to see the pictures. Surprisingly, Melissa and Courtney didn't last too long and ended up going home and passing out around 2ish. Found out the next day that Courtney was so drunk that she went #2 in the street. No joke. Lagos was literally the shitshow. Anyways, at Joe's Garage I remember girls dancing on the bar and then the bar being set on fire. I kid you not. This must be what Spring Break in Acapulco and Cancun is like. Lots of college kids getting drunk and going crazy. I admittedly kind of enjoyed it. It was just pure, uninhibited, debauchery. Mtv was there, it's actually just a guy who works for Mtv and a guy who works for the BBC who's pitching the show. They were doing the taping and such. They were also both pretty young, about my age-ish. So Joe's Garage was pretty fun. Afterwards, supposedly, we went next store to a bar called Inside Out but I don't have any memory of this. Then Jessica and I went back to the hostel. Despite my drunkenness, I got through my whole going to bed routine and was in bed and asleep around 4ish...I think...
Anyways, it was a crazy night. I was pretty drunk. People were being insane. Lagos was a definite shitshow. And it was just beginning...
