I'M HEEEEEERE!
Holy crap, I cannot believe that I am in Spain right now. I've been waiting for this moment for many, many years! I cannot believe that I'm in Europe...I can't believe I'm abroad! This is craziness, fo sho.
So, yeah, a lot has happened, of course. So, I'll break it down for y'all.
The Flight:
Got to the airport with mom, met Daddy, hung out in the food court in front of security for awhile to soak in the last moments together. At 4:15 we said farewell which was extremely sad, I held back more tears than I shed. I have never been away from home for so long! My first flight to Zurich was a bit delayed. I had a long conversation with two women, one is a high school English teacher in Africa and the other is a high school Spanish teacher in North Carolina who just happens to be a UofM alum. Oh yeah! She told me about how when she went to Michigan it didn't have the study abroad programs. Crazy. The flight was 8 hours, yuck. I sat in the middle seat between two middle aged men, one was an Israeli who liked to complain and sleep, and the other was a Russian who didn't speak until he got a bit drunk and talked my head off about what an abomination it is that the USA doesn't have an official language. Just smile and nod...for an hour...oy. I tried to sleep on the plane, but just could not get comfortable. I'm sorry, but I just canNOT sleep sitting up! So I rested my eyes for about an hour. They had personal TVs on which you could choose movies/tv/music/etc. The movie selection blew. I watched "Just Like Heaven" which was, actually, surprisingly good. Then I watched a documentary on pearls. Seriously, ask me anything about pearls cuz I'm a frickin expert now. No joke. We at dinner on the plane which was weird, then, suddenly, we ate breakfast again. I tell ya, jumping a bunch of time zones feels like time traveling...I mean, it got light out of nowhere. So weird.
We arrived in Zurich at 9:15. I ran to my gate to attempt to catch my 9:30 to Madrid, which I missed of course. They put me on the 11:55, which gave me time to explore Switzerland (within the confines of the airport). I bought chocolate to share when I arrived in Sevilla, and a shot glass. Exciting. My flight to Madrid was pretty empty which gave me a lot of space to sleep (for and hour and a half, ugh). It was a Swiss flight so instead of peanuts they gave milk chocolate which was the happiest moment of the trip. Swiss chocolate is happiness.
We arrived in Madrid at 2. I got my luggage, pretty much flew through customs, and ran around the entire airport with 4 pieces of heavy luggage to re-check my baggage at Iberia Airlines. Let me tell you, when Madrid decided to put in sloped moving sidewalks, they were not keeping the rolling suitcase carriers in mind. Yeah, that airport was hell and I got a major work-out there.
Sweaty, I made it just in time for my 4:00 flight to Sevilla. That flight was also pretty empty and I slept...for 35 minutes. Yep, quick, easy flight. Getting through the Sevilla airport was simple. I quickly grabbed a cab and headed to the hotel. I MADE IT!

Congrats on making it! You're in Europe! Woo! In two days, I will be taking an identical flight to Switzerland. Any suggestions? Have so much fun your first few days in Espagne!! I'm sure it will be much easier than you thought to be away from home. :)
Ohmy god! I can't believe that. I am in awe of the fact that you didn't have a seizure of some sort, because I would have just sat down and cried.
I did that when a familiar bus route all of a sudden stopped running and I was "stranded" in chicago... this is why you are in spain and I am not! :)
